When Houston Harte and Bernard Hanks became business partners in 1923, the two competing newspaper publishers in West Texas pooled their resources and bought dailies and weeklies across the state, eventually claiming 70 publications scattered across the country.
More than 30 years ago the company made big news when we added to our business becoming a leading provider of direct marketing services. We saw the world of marketing evolving from a mass market approach to a targeted approach. We added the capabilities, and the people to thrive in this environment. We began a series of strategic acquisitions that shaped the company we are today.
Since the mid-1990’s Harte-Hanks has made a number of other key acquisitions that added creative and agency services, call center and fulfillment services, digital and email marketing, global data quality, analytics and strategic research services to our offerings.
