Company History


Our evolution

We were founded in 1923 as a newspaper publisher in West Texas. And more than 30 years ago we entered the world of target marketing with several strategic acquisitions of marketing services and database marketing firms. Over time this has changed our business model to becoming a worldwide leader of direct marketing services.

Expanding our data-driven, multichannel digital offerings

Since the early 1980s Harte-Hanks has made a number of key acquisitions that added direct mail, database marketing and data services, creative and agency services, call center and fulfillment services, digital and e-mail marketing, global data quality, analytics and strategic research services to our offerings.


  • 2008—Harte-Hanks acquired Mason Zimbler Limited, a UK-based full-service integrated digital marketing agency specializing in the technology sector.
  • 2006—Harte-Hanks acquired AberdeenGroup, Inc., a Boston, MA-based provider of technology market research, intelligence, and demand generation services.
  • 2006—Harte-Hanks acquired Global Address, a UK-based company that provides global postal address data quality software and services incorporating standards for more than 230 nations and territories worldwide.
  • 2005—Harte-Hanks acquired Communiqué Direct, a contact center and customer care company based in Australia with global clients focusing primarily in the high-tech industry.
  • 2004—Harte-Hanks acquired Postfuture®, a leading e-mail service provider for both its consumer and business-to-business marketing customers.

Of course, there have been many other acquisitions throughout our history that have lent themselves to shaping the company we are today. We will continue to look for ways to build truly integrated, direct marketing solutions for our customers, for today and the future.
